Barcelona is one of the world’s food and wine capitals, but did you know there’s one (and only one) winery IN Barcelona?
L’Olivera Project
L’Olivera is a wine cooperative founded in 1974 with a double focus on wine and olive oil.
The wine project has two locations, one in Vallbona de les Monges, and another one in Barcelona city.

The winery project in Barcelona works under the brand “Vinyes de Barcelona“.
The location is a historical and totally remodelled winery at the Can Calopa de Dalt masia in the Collserola Natural Park.
The unique design and creative studio Clase, by Claret Serrahima, advises L’Olivera on product marketing and visual design.
The Only Winery In Barcelona
Surrounded by controversy, the project to produce wines in Barcelona started in 2001, under the major Joan Clos.
The winery is located in an old “masia” called Can Calopa de Dalt in the middle of the Collserola park at about 200 masl.
Additionally, there is a bar/cafe where you can try all their wines and obviously buy some bottles.
The Barcelona city hall owns the masia, which contains architectural elements from the XVI century.
Vinyes De Barcelona Winery
Since 2009 L’Olivera has run the wine project at Can Calopa de Dalt.
The Vinyes de Barcelona project has about 3 ha of vines in production, mostly Syrah and Garnacha.
The winery produces about 15,000 bottles per year of wines certified under the DO Catalunya.
Iñigo Haughey is the chief of production and enologist.
Social Project
The Vinyes de Barcelona project has been fully financed by the local city hall in a double pursuit.
First, the project defends the agricultural background of Barcelona.
Second, the Vinyes de Barcelona project employs ±20 workers in social risk of exclusion, who live and work in the masia.
How To Get There
Unfortunately, the winery is slightly out of the way and you’ll need private transportation to reach it.
The road to the Can Calopa de Dalt Winery will certainly be a fantastic visit in itself.
Alternatively, in case you’re a cyclist, you can reach the winery from Barcelona by bike in about 1.30h-2h.
Finally, if you’d avoid the cycling (it’s steep), you can reach the winery by car in about 35 min from Barcelona city center.
